DIY-Summer Wreath
Have you ever had a craft that you just want to make over and over again because it was so much fun the first time?
Have you ever found a craft that you can make more than once and have it look different every time?
And (if you’ve answered yes to both of the above questions), have you ever found a craft that is easy on the budget no matter how many times you want to make it?
If you haven’t been able to answer ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, I will let you in on a little secret. And that secret is….

Wreath’s
That’s right! I am totally and completely obsessed with making wreaths! Here are my top three reasons why:
- Depending on the type you make, you can spend less than $20! Isn’t that amazing?
- You can make multiple, one for each season (which I plan on doing).
- They set the tone. Who wouldn’t be happy with a beautiful handmade wreath staring them in the face while they’re waiting for you to come to the door?
I have loved the idea of just having a single letter as a summer wreath for a long time. You can do so many different things with it (paint it, cover it with fabric, cover it with yarn, etc) so my options were endless.
- A medium-sized letter ‘C’ from Joann’s ($1.80 with a 40% off coupon)
- Jute ($0.99 with a 40% off coupon)
- Hot glue gun (already owned)
- Fake flowers ($7.23)
- Green ribbon ($2.13 with a 40% off coupon)
It took me a few times wrapping the jute around the letter to get the desired effect I wanted. If I’m being honest, jute was not my first choice (it’s too bulky). I wanted brown twine, but I couldn’t find any so I had to make-do with what Joann’s had. I also wrapped the jute (loosely) around the letter the first time to make sure I liked the way it looked before I started gluing things into place.
I’m so happy with the way the letter turned out! I still want to buy a funky picture frame to put the letter in before I hang it on the door though, but that will have to wait a bit since I have a few more projects taking up space in my living room.
And the best part about this project is…
I only spent….$12.15!
By the time I buy the frame and paint it, the wreath should still come out to less than $20. A price that I am very happy with.
How do you feel about wreaths? Do you love them? Hate them?
I love this idea and can’t wait to try it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
