Tips to make these Floral Paper Bookmarks

Autoblade isn’t cutting through the cardstock, why?

You should have one autoblade for vinyl and another specifically for paper. This is so your blade stays sharp and doesn’t dull because you’re using it on multiple materials.

If you do not have a new or dedicated blade to use on paper, the recommended cut settings may not work on your project. Up the FORCE or the BLADE setting (sometimes both) until you get the perfect cut with your machine!

Why am I not getting a clean cut on the bookmarks?

If you look closely you can see my bookmarks don’t have a perfectly clean cut. This is because your blade is dull or needs to be replaced! The newer and sharper the blade is the better cut you’ll get!

What type of glue works best for these floral paper bookmarks?

I used 3 different types of glue to see which one I liked best.

For the roses bookmark I used a glue stick. You can see the residue of the glue on the black background so it’s not a good one to use.

I used clear glue on the herringbone bookmark which works great! It just takes a bit to get the glue on the design.

I used spray adhesive on the tulip bookmark and it was by far the easiest to use and you can’t see any residue from it on the black background.

The best type of cardstock to use for these bookmarks is heavy 80lb. (or more) cardstock. It’ll give you a more sturdy bookmark and won’t bend as easily.

If you want the bookmarks to last for a long time, laminate them! I use my Heidi Swapp MINC machine to laminate things but this laminator from Amazon works better and is so much cheaper!
