July Photo Challenge: Week 3

And we are done with week three of our photo challenge!  Is it crazy to anyone else that July is almost over already?  Didn’t we just start it?

I definitely used photos from our California trip in this challenge (just like last weeks), which I did not want to do but I have not really been able to catch up since we’ve been back from the wedding!  Bare with me…next week I’ll have new pictures for you!

Get out from behind that camera! Photo challenge

Center Metering:

It's a sun dial! You can tell my metering setting is on center because all of the light is in the middle of the photograph. The edges get slightly darker as you go from the center of the picture outwards.

Fill the Frame:

This was one of the many buildings at Stanford University. I think it's a Library...but I'm not positive.

Self Portrait #2:

I asked Chris to snap a photo of me while I was getting ready for the wedding. He doesn't think he knows what he is doing, I beg to differ.

I honestly wasn't trying to do a self portrait here, I just didn't want to get out of the car because it was so cold!

Looking Down:

Waiting for the waves to crash against the rocks so I could capture it on the camera. It wasn't happening though...

Stationary (still):

As we were walking back to our car, I saw this bike sitting all by itself and thought it would make for a good shot!

Rule of Thirds:

I love the Rule of Thirds! It makes photos look so much more interesting. Also...I love my tripod. Because it means I can capture pictures like this.

High Aperture:

I really wanted a picture of how far away the mountains were, but it just wasn't working for me in this location. But...by using a high f/stop (f/22), I was able to bring everything into focus. And you can see the tops of the mountains right behind those trees!
