Sarcastic + Honest Felt Envelopes for Valentine’s Day
Use your Silhouette machine and some scrap vinyl to customize these Target Dollar Spot inspired felt envelopes for Valentine’s Day parties and celebrations!
And my Target Dollar Spot obsession continues! So much so that I now have a category of it on the blog. Ahhhh obsession. ?
It seems like every single time I go in Target I hit up the dollar spot. I just can’t walk by it without stopping in to see what’s new. Which is kind of how I ended up with these felt envelopes for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t really need them, but I just kind of wanted to make something with them anyway. ?
Story of my life.
The idea to make them a bit sarcastic kind of came naturally for me. Chris and I are not mushy people. We like to tease each other all the time and are constantly going on about those little annoying but somewhat cute habits the other has. Like my ability to steal the blankets from Chris every night, no matter how tightly he tucks them underneath his body to protect himself from getting cold. And his habit of slowly gravitating towards the middle of the bed and snoring (LOUDLY) in my ear every single night. It wakes me up every time y’all. I haven’t gotten a good nights sleep in YEARS. ?
So yea, that’s how I got the idea for these sarcastic Valentine’s Day envelopes. They are the perfect way to say….hey, I kind of like you and these little annoying cute things you do.
The one thing I wasn’t sure about was using heat transfer vinyl on felt. I mean, I know it’s possible but I’ve never done it and I really didn’t want to accidentally burn through the felt. Because I’ve burned through things before and it’s not fun. And it’s definitely frustrating when you waste materials and time like that!
So I wanted to be sure I knew what I was doing before I went ahead with the project. And I wanted to be able to pass on the right information so you can be successful too!
This project is:
- quick,
- simple, and
- customizable!

Let’s make our own felt envelopes for Valentine’s Day!
Materials
- Felt envelopes from the Target Dollar Spot
- Heat Transfer Vinyl (I love the rose gold from expressions vinyl!)
- Pot holders
- Iron + pillowcase (or teflon sheet)
- Silhouette Cameo or Cricut Machine
Tutorial
+ Cut out your designs with your Silhouette or Cricut. Make sure that you’ve flipped your design BEFORE you cut!
+ Put pot holders inside the envelope and then place your design on top of the envelope.
+ Heat up your iron and place the teflon sheet (or a pillowcase) on top of your design.
+ Press the design for 30 seconds and then check to make sure the entire design has adhered to the envelope. If parts of the vinyl are still pulling up, put the teflon sheet back on top and continue to press with your iron until the entire design is stuck to your envelope.
The envelopes are big enough to stuff little surprises or a few yummy treats in. I kind of love the idea of hot gluing ribbon to them and hanging them off the backs of chairs too.
The possibilities just kind of seem endless. Which really is the best kind of project!

Those are adorable! But I really need to know what font you used for “Blanket stealer”! Thanks! 🙂
Hi Heather! I can’t remember the name of the font off the top of my head but I will find it and come back to reply!
